The Hawaii Bicycling League offers several cycling skills workshops for all levels.  Workshops depart from several locations in Honolulu, all with easy access to the Ko Olina Beach Villas and Resort.

Popular workshops include Cycling Skills 101 which covers the quintessential elements of safe commuter riding, including cyclists’ rights, rules of the road, safety, lane positioning, and other important rules for safe cycling.  Another popular option is Basic Bike Maintenance, a two hour workshop about critical bike maintenance skills, including flat tire repair, cleaning and lubricating a chain, and other routine check ups.  This workshop is especially useful for anyone intending to complete long rides.

Sunset Beach Park is a two mile stretch of sandy beach located along Oahu’s North Shore, about fifty minutes from the Ko Olina Beach Villas.  The park is an ideal resting point for visitors driving the full Oahu loop.

The park is a popular destination for surfers.  It’s beach serves as an ideal picnic location as well for those interested in watching the experienced North Shore surfers.  Additionally, the beach derives its name from the beautiful sunset across the ocean’s horizon.  However, visitors are cautioned to be aware of the strong currents in the area; novice swimmers are strongly discouraged from swimming here.

The park is open to the public year round, and admission is free.

Hawaii Theatre will present the play Much Ado about Nothing, with actors from its high school theater class.  The theater is located on Bethel Street in Honolulu, just thirty minutes from the Ko Olina Beach Villas and Resort.

Shakespeare’s classic play follows two intertwined love stories, including one formal love pursuit and a second less traditional pair unwilling to admit their true feelings.  Student performers will tackle the challenging plot lines and language of Shakespeare in an effort to preserve a classic play and share their budding theatrical talent.

Every Wednesday Night, Hawaiian Brian’s, a growing music venue, transforms itself into the Mars Comedy Club to welcome the local comedy group, Mars Comedy.  Performances take place at Hawaiian Brian’s Crossroads location on Kapiolani Boulevard, about thirty minutes from the Ko Olina Beach Villas and Resort.

Featured performers include the troupe Guys with Issues, an experienced trio of James Mane, Russell Kealoha, and Chad Wago with talent in comedy and improvisational theater.  Following the performance, up-and-coming comedians are encouraged to take the stage.

The Lulumahu Falls trail is a popular hiking destination in Oahu, located about forty minutes from the Ko Olina Beach Villas and Resort just off Pali Highway.

The hike traverses a gnarly trail covered with bamboo forest, rocks and boulders, and the occasional stream so as to provide hikers with a close encounter with Hawaii’s natural landscape.  The trail itself is appropriate for beginner to intermediate climbers, and the final destination is the ribbony Lulumahu waterfall.

Hikers are strongly encouraged to wear a sturdy pair of hiking boots and carry water, especially during Hawaii’s hot season.  The trail becomes quite muddy after rainfall.  Admission to the trail is free and open to the public.

Located in Honolulu on Kalakaua Avenue, just thirty minutes from the Ko Olina Beach Villas and Resort, the Waikiki Aquarium is a family-friendly destination on Oahu.

The aquarium first opened in 1904 and has since sought to educate visitors about ocean diversity.  The aquarium has several exhibits, including exhibits focused on corals, sea turtles, reef hunters, and native Hawaiian aquatic life, among others.  In addition to self-guided tours, the aquarium offers several classes throughout the year, including a Behind the Scenes Tour, Exploring the Reef at Night, and Meet the Monk Seals.
