The South Street Gallery, about 30 minutes from Ko Olina, is hosting a phone camera photo exhibit now through March 10.  The exhibit seeks to celebrate the transcendence and technological advances of modern phone photography.

The Second Annual Maui Open Studios will run every weekend in February all around Maui.  This open house features a variety of artists, including jewelers, painters, and photographers, as they share their craft with the public.  Many will give demonstrations as they show you their signature technique.

Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki Beach, about 30 minutes from Ko Olina, is hosting a rare wine pairing dinner tonight, February 4.  The meal will feature ten different, classic wines expertly paired with fine dining appetizers, entrees, and desserts.  The multi-course meal has been designed by master chef Bruno Chevalier in celebration of the 350 year anniversary of Bordeaux’s Château Rauzan-Ségla.

The North Jazz Trio will have their debut performance at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Museum of Art, about 30  minutes from Ko Olina, tonight.  Named for their love of Oahu’s North Shore, the trio features a bassist, pianist, and drummer.

Every Wednesday in February, the Waikiki Aquarium will be hosting Whale Wednesdays.  Located about 30 minutes from Ko Olina, they will combine educational talks and creative displays to inform visitors about Hawai’i’s Humpback Whales.  The Wake of Giants, an educational film, will be shown in the aquarium’s theatre.

The Dragon Enters and Honolulu Art Academy will be hosting Art After Dark again tomorrow, January 27, after a brief break during the peak of winter.  The monthly event will include fan painting by artist Andy Lee, Chinese food, and open access to the Chinese gallery.

The Abrigo Family and Bishop Museum will host Kanikapila, a Hawaiian Jam session next Sunday, January 29.  This celebration of whimsical, impromptu music occurs on the last Sunday of each month.  In addition to instrumental and vocal performances, hula and dance will be encouraged.  While it is hosed at the Bishop Museum, about 3o minutes from Ko Olina, admission to the museum itself is separate.

The Doris Duke Theatre is currently hosting the fifth annual Bollywood Film Festival.  Known for their bright colors and musicality, Bollywood films often tell the story of love, deceit, and family.  They will be hosting screenings of seven different Indian films, and Indian food will be available for purchase.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts and Bank of Hawai’i is hosting a two day festival from January 15 through 16 to celebrate the New Year.  The festival, which is geared toward families with younger children, will include a wide range of arts and crafts activities, martial arts, and dragon and lion dancing.  They will also host a Chinese lion pole performance.

The Honolulu Academy is located near the Ala Moana State Recreational Area, about thirty minutes from Ko Olina.  The festival will last from 11 am to 5 pm each day, and admission is free.  For more information, check out www.honoluluacademy.org.

The Hawaii Theatre will host the new Shanghai Circus from January 13 through 15.  This circus will feature a variety of acts not included in a traditional circus, including human pretzels, dragon dancers, and an extravagant Chinese acrobatic troupe.

The Shanghai Circus is free and open to the public, beginning at 5 am.  The Hawaii Theatre is located in Honolulu, about thirty minutes from Ko Olina.  For more information, check out hawaiitheatre.com.
